Current project – Temporary water proofing works and structural repairs – Conservation area.
We are currently working on a project in partnership with Preston Borough Council on a property in a conservation area in Preston. I thought I would mention this project as it demonstrates our versatility and expertise over a range of disciplines relating to the execution of a project from survey to completion.
This particular property has been neglected for many years and is in very poor condition. Our initial damp and structural survey highlighted many structural defects which were allowing water to ingress and affect the structural elements of the building such as roof and floor timber joists.
Other parts of the building were in very poor, unstable and dangerous condition such as the chimneys, parts of the extension at the rear and yard wall.
Our remit is to make the building secure, safe and water tight. We are removing the most dilapidated unstable dangerous parts such as the slate roof, chimneys and yard wall then securing a temporary waterproof cover to the roof structure.
This is a tricky project where health and safety are very important. We are working closely with representatives at Preston Borough Council to prevent further degeneration of the building and ensure this property is in a condition where it can be successfully renovated and given a new lease of life.
